Journey to Dookʼoʼoosłííd — capturing the sacred mountain as it transforms into the colors of fall.
My journey to Flagstaff’s sacred mountain, Dookʼoʼoosłííd (San Francisco Peaks), was a return to a place filled with spirit, memory, and meaning. As one of the Four Sacred Mountains of the Navajo people, Dookʼoʼoosłííd holds stories carried through generations—stories of protection, prayer, and identity.
Traveling up the mountain during the shift into fall, I set out to capture the breathtaking seasonal transition. The golden aspens, the crisp air, and the deep shadows moving across the peaks created a powerful sense of change—nature’s reminder that every season has its purpose.
Each photo from this journey reflects the sacredness of the land and the beauty of Dookʼoʼoosłííd wrapped in the colors of autumn. It’s more than a landscape; it’s a place of connection, reverence, and home.
